Not sure if this is the right forum but here goes: I'm looking for a way to be able to remotely wake my computer if it shuts down: I want to use my gaming rig from a distance as I am often times 2-3 hours from home and I am worried about a power outage taking down my computer and leaving my with a weak laptop for gaming for up to a week.. Are there any alternatives to WoL that don't require me to be on the same network to boot up my pc in case this happens? I've seen the auto restart option but I don't know if I feel confident being powerless if that doesn't work

The available choices are WoL and restoring to the previous state after a power loss. I don’t recall the exact phrase for the latter, but it generally refers to automatically turning back on if the PC was running. It seems unlikely to fail unless there’s a major problem. In theory, a third option could involve a networked device that simulates pressing the power button—remote KVM units used in data centers handle this. However, I doubt it would work unless the operating system became corrupted during the power failure, which would make recovery impractical.
