I recently purchased a Zotac RTX 2060. After buying it, I discovered my CPU was severely limiting performance. My system specs are: CPU i5-6402P at 2.8GHz, GPU RTX 2060, M.2 H110m S2, 8GB RAM at 3000MHz, and a 650W PSU. I’m considering upgrading the motherboard and CPU to fix the bottleneck. I’m thinking about a Gigabyte B450 AORUS Elite or a CPU from R5 (3500 or 3600). Which one should I choose? Any advice would be appreciated.
Ensure the B450 motherboard includes the latest BIOS for Zen 2 support. Verify your RAM compatibility. A single 8GB module isn’t sufficient for Ryzen CPUs; you’ll need an additional stick.
Check the Ryzen 3600 model at 3500 MHz and look through the motherboard’s compatibility guide for suitable RAM options. Follow the advice to install two RAM modules instead of a single one, as recommended by the other user.
the msi b450 max boards include ryzen3000 compatible bios and offer top vrms. i suggest choosing one with an r5 3600 and pairing it with an 8gb ram module, according to what others recommend.
