Hello, Your mom gave you a Mac to repair, but you're stuck with an issue. Your little brother attempted to install Windows, not for gaming, so he's stuck between platforms due to his studies. Every time you turn it on, you see: "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key." You're thinking about command options, but it's a simple wireless keyboard that seems misaligned. I assumed the keyboard was compatible, yet it won't even power up (the Num-Caps lock is off). The only solution right now might be getting an Apple wired keyboard. You have access to your PC and another Mac if you need another way. Thanks!

According to what I understand, generic keyboards work with Mac systems because they follow a common USB standard. You might experiment with various USB ports to see if it works.

It seems the drive could be failing or you might want a fresh setup after erasing the existing one.

Would you like additional details such as the Mac model, operating system version, and last used OS?

I believe it's worth giving it a shot again.

Use a regular USB keyboard (not a gaming model) and press the Windows key. Source: I’ve managed it. If not, turn on the wireless keyboard’s power button at the moment of hearing the sound on your Mac, then hold Command.
