However, it's a collaborative effort—some self-made developers can handle AMD processors on OSX, so Apple certainly has the capability.

They might be capable, but that doesn't guarantee they would act. The past ten years haven't shown much from Apple, especially with their CPUs and APUs. It's uncertain if AMD could make a strong comeback and provide reliable chips for the coming years. Even if it does, AMD would need to demonstrate real value before investing heavily in stability. I've also had trouble getting OSX running on my Phenom II, even with custom settings—it still requires significant adjustments to achieve expected performance.

The MacBook Pros with AMD GPUs and the MacBook Pro with FirePro chips seem unlikely to shift significantly.

Recent reports suggest Apple is evaluating ARM technology for upcoming Macbooks, though progress remains uncertain. If the Mac Pro receives an Intel upgrade, AMD could become a more viable option. A shift to Intel would also maintain strong Thunderbolt compatibility, a feature Apple prioritizes.
