Initially, I didn’t understand partitioning when I first set up my PC and installed Windows. Now, everything is on the same drive as the operating system, which makes moving the OS to a 120 GB Sandisk SSD challenging. I tried separating it but ended up with a disorganized mess. Could someone with experience guide me through this process? Thank you!

I replaced Windows 10 on the desired location and pulled the files from the storage. This gave me both an operating system drive and a separate drive with your data. You won’t need a new license key for Windows.

I created a bootable USB from the link provided. *Please back up any crucial information on the SSD before proceeding!* After installing Windows via the tool, I simply clicked next and chose the correct drive. I removed unnecessary files from the old drive and everything worked fine. Make sure you’re using a Windows account, if you need further assistance.

I created a backup on an external hard drive. Should it succeed? Yes, it should. Would using a bigger thumb drive help? It might improve reliability. If you manage to build a USB tool, how would you handle the existing Windows version on your computer? Please let me know if you need more details.

Which Windows version are you running? A 4+GB USB drive should suffice, and your backup is acceptable.

The location of your backup doesn't affect its value. It's important for safety, but where you store it isn't crucial.
