I've discovered a vintage Dell machine with limited specs—max 128MB RAM, a solid-core CPU, and a 1GB hard drive. It runs an older Pentium processor at 166MHz. You currently have 48MB of memory and a replaceable or upgradable 1GB drive. Looking for practical ways to use it without letting it end up in a landfill. Any ideas on suitable operating systems?

There was a version of Windows from the late '90s. I mostly saw versions 95 and 98 during my childhood. I owned a genuine 98SE and really enjoyed that operating system.

Yes, there are many options for Linux and other non-Windows platforms. You can explore distributions like Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, or Arch Linux for various needs.

You're questioning its usefulness since it seems incapable of much.

You'd likely use it as a display of the original operating system it was shipped with.
