I'm mainly focusing on recreating GB and GBA functionality. I've tried using lakka, but it doesn't seem to function properly on my system.

I've attempted it. Once I select run installer, the screen just becomes black.

It could offer additional capabilities depending on the emulation setup. You might be able to run a more complete version on Linux, but you’d still need to switch to a TV interface to start using emulators.
