Trying to get by with limited funds, the key I had vanished completely, and I’m hoping to fit it into my new PC. Since it’s an old game, maybe no one needs it anymore.

After reading this, origin feels similar to Steam—once you enter the key, you get the game permanently. Did you ever use the key? If not, that’s your responsibility (or theirs).

It was stored on a disk. You entered the key during installation, and you could place it in the original location. However, it had been a long time since I used the original, so it wasn't saved anywhere. It wasn't meant to be lost.
