In Windows Explorer, files aren't arranged by default. To move a file to the top, type a hash symbol (#) before its name.

On a Mac, files and folders remain wherever you place them unless you turn on the grid snap feature. In Windows, everything is automatically arranged into a grid, making it harder to move items freely.

Documents are organized according to a system. I believe there’s a mode that gives full control, though I might be mistaken.

On Windows, this feature works only on the desktop, not in the file explorer, unfortunately.
