Hi! Over the years, I've been organizing LAN parties with a group of friends in our area, mainly for teens and young adults. We use a conference room at a nearby school and have a 1gbps connection. Previously, 1gbit was sufficient, but recently we switched to Lancache with a PFSense setup. This time we faced some problems—certain games had trouble joining lobbies, and titles like Path of Exile kept disconnecting. It seemed like we had too much buffer space, even though we were using the FQCodel queue on our PFSense device. Could a Dream Machine Pro be a good fit? We don’t need high specs; just something that evenly distributes bandwidth and prevents one person’s download from hogging the connection. Would it let us set bandwidth limits for specific local IPs, and can its QoS manage around 100 devices? Or is there another affordable option in the same price range we should consider? Thanks for your advice! We’re not experienced with networking, so keep it simple—just something that works.
