I need to find a way to organize files by type on my Linux Mint system. There isn’t a built-in feature like grouping by attribute in Windows, but there are alternatives to sort and categorize files effectively.

Nemo's restrictions as Cinnamon Mint's default file manager. Consider adding Dolphin—part of KDE—for its "group by" functionality. It works on Mint, though you'll also need to install KDE packages.

It doesn't seem to be about "only," but it does include a group by feature.

Create a new folder with all items displayed clearly. Position three icons in the top right, then select the middle one. Choose "Type" to view options, next pick "Size" with size choices, and finally choose "Date modified" sorted by date.
