I need a better choice for your laptop's processor. It currently has an i380M chip inside. I’m not sure what you mean by socket 989, but I’ll help you find something suitable now.

The outcome will rely on the capabilities of your motherboard. Which laptop are you using?

i7-620M offers a modest boost of 400MHz over its base speed. If the i3 feels sluggish, the i7 remains slower overall, though not drastically so. There are more recent processors available for this socket, but most laptops can't accommodate CPUs that are significantly faster than what's already present.
