Optimized Ryzen setup for professional use.
Upgrading my setup involves running virtual machines and tools like GNS3 and EVE-NG on an i5-4690K with 8GB RAM. I have a GTX 1060, 6GB Samsung 850 EVo drives, and a 650W Corsair PSU. My motherboard is a budget model that supports two M.2 drives. The budget was about £600, and this purchase costs around £557, leaving some room for improvements. I’m considering adding two 128GB M.2 drives and wondering if using RAID 0 or a single 256GB drive makes sense. Should I upgrade the RAM or the motherboard next?
I’d opt for one 256GB M.2 SSD, as the speed gains from Raid 0 aren’t as significant with already fast drives. The RAM appears solid, but do you really need 32GB? Choosing 16GB would save some money.
I’d choose this RAM instead, matching your price and model but offering a 3600 MHz speed—better suited if you’re skipping Samsung B-Die modules and adjusting the settings yourself. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/patriot-v...04-pa.html If you’re certain you need 32 GB, you might find four packs for £135.
I understand your point but I wanted to keep two more slots available for a 32GB model if necessary.
