They've fixed the Z77 Extreme4 with crossflash to Z77 OC formula. Are there any boards that outperform it in RAM OC? I only have some gigabyte and ASUS Z77 units, plus a budget Z77 that might be tradeable.

Looking for alternatives? I only have it in a crossflashed Extreme4 build. It’s puzzling why your 2140 5-10-7-24 82trfc (1.78v) PSC configuration doesn’t work on this board with the same numbers, and you’re unsure about adjusting other settings like TRIF, VCCSA, or performance level. The profiles aren’t behaving either.

For reference, I’ve worked with systems around 1520 MB using extreme DDR2, which helped me understand the trade-offs and risks involved.

It was pretty sure about it. I experienced an Abit AN8 failure and it ended up with a similar outcome. I didn’t force the board since it replaced a dead Asus, and it’s a rare model, heheh. The specs were 1000 7-9-7, 900 7-7-7, and 800 6-6-6 only at 1.65v. Oops, I spent some time on BBSE to 2133 8-9-8. Not too exciting. I didn’t use it much.

Did you play around with TRIFIS or TKE? Also, where can I find references for voltages such as VCCSA? Are there any other key points that should be tweaked?

Based on my observations with Z97, tcke has little impact on performance. Trefi plays a notable role, so consider setting it to 65535. If it isn't stable, perform a binary search to identify the highest stable value. You might start with 32768, then test 16384 or 49152 if needed. Keep in mind, be cautious and choose a conservative number—Trefi can lead to rare instability that's difficult to detect.
