My hardware specifications are as follows:
Intel Core i5-3470 (3.2 GHz)
Nvidia GTX 1060 (3 GB)
16 GB DDR3 RAM

I primarily play Grand Theft Auto V online, but regardless of the graphics settings I utilize, I consistently fail to achieve a stable 60 frames per second. When I set all options to maximum quality, my frame rate averages between 45 and 50 fps. Reducing the settings to low yields approximately 40-45 fps. This is frustrating, and I'm seeking a solution. (Note: I recognize this configuration presents limitations, and it’s unreasonable to expect optimal performance with an i5 and GTX 1060 at lower settings.)

Increasing visual quality demands greater GPU power while reducing it utilizes less CPU processing. Conversely, decreasing these settings shifts the workload to the CPU, which can exacerbate existing performance issues. Elevated graphical options represent an effective solution until a more powerful processor can be obtained.

The game heavily relies on your processor, and your older four-core CPU seems like an appropriate match for its requirements.

“Hot” indicates your processor is somewhat old; I suggest acquiring an “Intel Core i5 3470” or “AMD X8 FX-8350” or a more recent model.

Increasing resolution or graphical details consumes more GPU power and less CPU processing. Conversely, reducing these settings shifts the workload to the CPU. You recognized that the CPU was a bottleneck, but then decreasing settings exacerbated the strain on an already weak processor—that represented regression. Optimizing graphics settings provides the optimal solution until a replacement CPU can be obtained.

I'm suggesting you’re currently utilizing a processor you own, and that you also possess an Intel-compatible motherboard socket.
