Optimize your Windows 10 performance for longer battery endurance.
There are several points I need to mention about this. First, it's still in beta. Don't be too critical. The Windows 10 preview has undergone many changes. Second, the Windows 10 beta has evolved; you might think it's improved since you last used it. Third, the icons haven't been very appealing—it's a technical preview. This is the earliest version they've released for Windows. It's still far from being ready. Fourth, you can try again if you wish, but to get the start screen, enable full-screen mode in settings. I recommend sticking with 8.1 until Windows 10 is officially launched. The small details here are bothersome and suggest these preview versions aren't ideal for you. Just keep waiting. When I used Windows 8 preview builds as my primary OS, I also encountered issues, which made it frustrating. I purchased Windows 8 when it was affordable (around $45) and installed it, which resolved those problems. Preview builds are still incomplete and prone to bugs. Things may look poor and not function properly.
I've been using Windows 8 since the Developer Preview, including the leaked versions before. I'm okay with the issues, but I'm upset Microsoft would alter such a polished OS and mix it with Windows 7 elements. Right now I'm downloading Windows 10 and plan to install it tonight once I'm back home.
On mobile AMD graphics, there were no options available, but turning off the GPU didn’t affect performance because I had the newest drivers installed.
AMD hasn’t posted any fresh official drivers recently. Yet your system likely supports many peripherals beyond the graphics card—like the sound card, SATA controller, Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, or Ethernet. Check if Device Manager displays a warning symbol or unclear icons. If you can’t locate certain devices, it may be a compatibility or driver issue.
I put it on my laptop yesterday and already reinstalled 8.1. It’s a bit too unstable for a laptop. I didn’t locate drivers for Intel graphics, brightness adjustments weren’t working, so I was stuck staring at a torch. It feels a little smoother now, but the initial setup froze, so I ended up creating two accounts. Microsoft seems to have a long way ahead of them if they aim to finalize it by the end of July.
You need to use outdated drivers. None are available for Windows 10. Also, I’m joking—I told you so! LOL
