I'm thinking about setting up a PC for streaming and gaming in 2021. I'm considering either an AMD 2600X with a RTX 2060 Super and 16 GB RAM or an Intel Core i5-9600KF with the same components. When I run UserBenchmark tests, the i5 consistently performs better. I plan to use this system for three years, so I need something that stays current and remains great for streaming. Many people say the 2600X is better for streaming, but the i5 clearly outperforms it in FPS.

It doesn't make sense to choose 3700(x) as an answer without more context. Could you clarify what you're referring to?

Despite that, the i5 remains significantly better than it, and the 3700x is nearly $300. I'm aiming for a CPU in the $170-$210 range, which fits my budget.

I'm aware of the concerns about user benchmark data. It's important to rely on up-to-date and accurate information. The 9600K model is considered outdated, and newer options like the 3600 and 3700X offer better performance. Always verify specifications from reliable sources before making decisions.

For your needs the 3600 is ideal. The 9600K isn't suitable for streaming. It's often seen as perfect at 100% by some modern titles, which means it's becoming less relevant for gaming too. You definitely need more than 6 threads by mid-2020.

Because the frame rate shown is controlled by the GPU. Both 9600K and 3600 can support most cards. The FPS figures on the site are generally arbitrary. In fact, if you follow userbench, the i3 8350K performs similarly to an i9 9980XE. It doesn’t seem very sensible.

Checking out a build is great! For the most affordable yet reliable motherboard, consider budget options like MSI B550M or ASUS P3. They offer solid performance without breaking the bank.

B450 Pro4, Steel Legend or Strix stand out, while MSI B450 Tomahawk and Gaming Pro Carbon are also strong options.

I’m choosing the Steel Legend just because it’s there, even though I don’t really understand why. When I try to save the parts on PC Part Picker, it says they’re not compatible.
