Optimize your system for quicker performance.
I've set up Linux Mint 18.2 on your Compaq Presaeio SR5710Y with a Sonya 64-bit system. It functions but runs slowly. Previously, it worked on an older, failing hard drive that had been running continuously for over six years. After moving it to a newer 500GB WD Greenpower drive, performance hasn't improved much. Anyone have ideas to enhance speed?
It's interesting since I'm using a 64-bit Mint on an Acer C720 Chrome book with just 2GB of RAM, yet it runs smoothly. The issue seems to come from having two CPUs paired together along with a slow solid-state drive.
The green drive actually improved performance (demonstrates how worn the older drive was). I believe I’ll be okay with its speed. After all, it only runs Remmina, Spotify, and Audacity. I don’t spend much time browsing the web on it.
This 6150SE IGP seems outdated, likely over 13 years old. Consider using a budget PCIe GPU instead.
