Hello, I’m currently enhancing my setup by swapping out my power supply to a quiet 850W platinum model and acquiring a TUF Gaming 9070 XT. I’ve been using it for about two weeks and am really impressed. My case is looking good. Now I’m planning to upgrade the motherboard, RAM, CPU, and cooler. I’ve picked the CPU RAM and thought I’d choose something fitting. So far, I haven’t found a suitable motherboard yet. If anyone has advice or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. I’m aiming for a 9800X3D, NH-U12A cooler and for RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 at 60MHz. I believe this amount of RAM is sufficient and better than cheaper options. Based on my research, it seems a PCIe 5 board would be ideal, along with large heat sinks to aid cooling during gaming sessions. I’m not after the absolute top-tier boards, as they usually cost between £150-£200. These components will stay with me even if I upgrade my GPU in two or more generations, so I’m prioritizing a better CPU instead. Thank you for your time and support.

There are solid AM5 options that won’t hurt performance as long as they deliver enough power and manage heat effectively. You don’t need the x870 unless you want extra perks. Models like B650, B850, or X670 work well. I prefer the one recommended by @Dedayog. If you’re looking to upgrade slightly for around $20 more, check out this VJP D4D on PCPartPicker.

Perhaps an X870 model (around $180) or a more affordable B series board, priced between $120 and $150 (like the B650/E), would work well. In reality, motherboards don’t significantly impact performance. People often choose premium boards because they lack knowledge, require extensive connectivity, or are doing serious overclocking.

These recommendations aren't universally applicable—they depend heavily on the user's requirements. x series AMD boards for AM5 are mainly useful for specialized I/O tasks. B series options let you save costs while retaining overclocking capability and covering about 99% of typical I/O needs, depending on the board choice. B850 is usually the best fit. Choose any model within your budget that matches your port and feature requirements.

You're on the right track with your setup. The PSU and GPU are set, so focus on the motherboard choice. What makes it stand out compared to other boards would depend on features like overclocking support, cooling options, or compatibility with your components. Let me know if you'd like recommendations or details to help narrow it down!

Affordable value with solid performance and features. While there are many options, these stand out as more than just average and sufficient.
