You're facing a common challenge with older motherboards like the Z390UD. Overclocking an I7-9700K can be tricky, but here are some tips: research your specific BIOS version, check compatible CPU overclocks, and ensure your power supply and cooling are solid. If unsure, start small and monitor temperatures closely.
Choose to install the Intel XTU and begin with the standard tuning settings, or access your motherboard's BIOS by pressing the delete key or another key repeatedly during startup. Within the BIOS you'll find an overclocking interface; I utilized it to enable all cores to reach maximum performance. If you're unfamiliar with overclocking, it may not be worthwhile due to potential instability issues. However, for my systems (9600KF and MSI Z390-A PRO), if extreme instability occurs and the system shuts down, the default configurations are automatically restored.
