Hello everyone, I'm looking for some advice on overclocking the -9600KF. Many of my games are CPU-intensive, so I'm aiming for around 5GHz. I've already reached about 4.8GHz boost across all cores using Intel XTU and BIOS settings, but pushing beyond that has led to crashes. I suspect voltage stability is the main concern, as temperatures stay within safe limits (max 74°C in Cinebench R20) while voltages are what worry me most. The motherboard and power supply seem fine too—750W PSU and Z390-A PRO are in place. Would anyone have tips for someone just starting out with overclocking this chip? Any specific guidance for -9600K or 9600KF would be greatly appreciated!

Currently you're unsure about the voltage setting. A reasonable approach would be small adjustments, like adding 0.5V at a time and testing each step. This helps ensure stability. The BIOS should handle these changes, but it’s good to monitor how the system reacts.

This approach involves boosting the frequency slightly, like raising the multiplier by around 100 MHz. For instance, moving from 4.6 to 4.7 and then adjusting the voltage by a small amount such as +0.4 to +0.5 if needed. It’s a challenging process that requires patience, but it might be feasible. You could start with 1.35-1.4 GHz and then test 5 GHz, possibly using an LLC profile.

My 8600K performed consistently around 5.0 GHz at approximately 1.3 volts, with a slight increase to 5.2 GHz only when voltage spiked above 1.4V. It ran cooler under the bequiet Dark Rock Pro 4, maintaining temperatures near 80°C during Cinebench stress and dropping to 60-70°C while gaming.

This board essentially limits the voltage, but with that setup you can increase it. It’s a simplified overview—more details are available if you want. You can enable auto-adjustment and it should work well.

Voltage up to 1.4 works well without significantly affecting lifespan. Aim for 1.35 to 1.4 for continuous operation. Remember, reducing voltage further lowers temperatures, so maintain stability while keeping it as low as needed.

Sure, just checking everything works smoothly. For constant access, I prefer keeping voltage below 1.35V, though some might say 1.4V is acceptable too. Above that level feels a bit risky, particularly for extended use.
