After switching to Windows 10, I've experienced slower performance in certain games such as GTA5. I originally ran GTA5 on Windows 7 and upgraded without reinstalling. Could this be the reason for the lag? If I reinstalled it on Windows 10, would that improve things? There seems to be some information about this issue online. Since it's a large game, having an idea before waiting months to download would be helpful.

Windows 10 often struggles after installation because it takes time to update and sync. The reason Windows 10 feels quicker than Windows 7 comes from fewer constant updates and less data sent to the NSA. It’s a bit unclear exactly when it becomes faster, but reaching that optimal speed is the goal.

The issue lies in upgrading to Windows 10 rather than performing a fresh installation. Most people understand that the upgrade procedure isn't ideal and often causes problems. For Windows 10 to function properly, a clean installation is necessary.

In the end, I intend to perform a complete reset, but I need to understand how installing games on Windows 7 before upgrading to Windows 10 impacts their speed. The issue is that the game is quite large—85GB—and it could take a long time if not worth the effort.

From what I understand, you don’t have a physical copy, only a Steam installation, which means you’d need to download the game again. Got it, and that makes sense.
