Hi everyone, I just rebuilt and upgraded some components from an old gaming PC I had. I need advice on RAM speed and recommendations for a new monitor (two units). Here’s what I have:
RAM starts at moderate rates to guarantee compatibility across Intel and AMD platforms. You must adjust the memory settings yourself—either fully by hand, which can be tricky, or using a saved profile. These profiles are typically referred to as XMP in BIOS, though on AMD systems it should more accurately be called DOCP. The process is similar; enable XMP/DOCP and select your desired speed profile, and performance usually improves. DDR4-3200 reaches the maximum speed supported by Ryzen 2000 chips, so results may vary. Many games don’t require much power, making 144Hz a solid choice. At 1080p, your RX 480 performs well, and Freesync ensures a smooth visual experience even at slightly lower refresh rates (like 100Hz or 100FPS).
