Hello, I'm trying to resolve an issue after changing BIOS settings. I installed Windows 7 two months ago and have been using a non-genuine version until now. After switching to the genuine OS, I thought the optimized defaults might help. However, when I restored to default settings, my PC returned to the non-genuine version, but all files I downloaded previously remain intact. How can I revert back to the genuine Windows 7?

It seems like the activation process just stopped unexpectedly after adjusting BIOS settings. You might need to retrace your steps through the activation method. If you don’t contact Microsoft support, it should work as long as you obtained the product legally. For more details, check the official guide here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help...s-7-or-8-1

It might have started from another partition using the previous operating system since that's the standard setting.

Check your device settings to find the genuine OS version. If needed, restore from a known good backup or reinstall the authentic operating system.

In the settings, locate the boot order or priority section and adjust the initial position to point to the drive running your updated operating system.

It seems you probably forgot to clean your other storage device, and the boot sequence was altered during a BIOS reset. Simply return to the BIOS settings and adjust the boot order to prioritize the correct drive.

Also clear the other disk if you no longer require that additional operating system.
