Hey everyone! A lot of chatter has surrounded Assassin's Creed and other titles...at first I struggled with poor performance on my GTX 780 and core i7. But after discovering the right settings, I finally got it running perfectly. Here’s what worked: enable FXAA, which usually looks blurry but is perfect for this game. Turn on VSYNC too—it makes a big difference. With a GPU that has at least 3GB VRAM (like GTX 970 or GTX980), you should be able to enjoy it. Set the environment quality to ultra, texture quality to ultra, shadow quality to high, and ambient occlusion to high or similar. Make sure anti-aliasing is FXAA and bloom is on. It’s smooth at around 60 FPS, though it can dip to 50 sometimes. Overall, it looks great!

GTX 970 I've checked my settings too, and the game runs smoothly above 50fps most of the time at a steady 60fps. I keep Bloom disabled. Also, just to be clear, the game doesn't support SLI yet, and it has gone through three patches since launch. Please steer clear of that comment about needing dual 980 because my video is still from the original release about two weeks ago.

He pushed MSAA during testing, which lowered my FPS to around thirty and made the game look much less impressive. I’m not sure how the engine handles FXAA, but it seems to be working well, and I think the optimization time was where the issue lies. It would have been better if they had just offered FXAA instead.

Absolutely, it not only performs better but also enhances the visual quality. FXAA provides a superior experience.

Previously no1 had never mentioned this before... Odd... Could try installing it now (had been inactive until fixed correctly) and apply these configurations.

I completely understand... as I've said before, I almost never rely on FXAA. It often appears blurry and odd, but for this game it works perfectly... give it a shot, friend!

It runs smoothly now... Early scenes (getting the book and sword) hover around 45-63fps (with brief drops to 40fps). Later gameplay (the little boy) maintains a range of 35-65fps, often staying near the higher end of 50-60fps. Overall it’s quite satisfying. The only tweaks were FXAA/High Shadows and turning off Soft-Shadows and 4xMSAA elsewhere... ^Stock 1040Mhz 290 clocks

That's great! The main change I made was adjusting the shadow PSSC settings. Appreciate it!

It changed the frame rate from 44fps to 30.4fps and turned it off.
