I recently got a Ryzen 5 3600x and connected it with Strix B450-F Gaming and Strix LC 360 AiO. For some reason, adjusting the power plan to high performance or balanced causes the CPU temperature during idle to rise to 48-55°C, sometimes reaching 60°C. This happens with all power plans, except the preset Power Saver, which works perfectly. The CPU hasn't been overclocked and operates at its default settings. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I’d appreciate it if someone could help me optimize my setup. Thanks!

Ensure the latest AMD chipset driver is installed, choose the Ryzen Balanced setting and let it run naturally. Under light load conditions, the system will automatically increase two cores for significantly higher performance than possible with all cores combined—this optimizes low-demand high-frequency operations while idle. This behavior is completely normal. Setting it to High Performance disables this adjustment. Simply rely on AMD’s expertise in optimizing their processors.

You have flexibility in adjusting your fans. If boosting the CPU seems necessary, it will handle itself, understands its boundaries, and reduces speed to stay within limits. If you're still concerned, use Prime 95, run the combined test for an hour, and let it monitor the CPU temperature. Keep it under 80°C during sustained tasks. The cooler should maintain the CPU below that threshold consistently. No need to stress about boosting—boosting won’t push the CPU into danger when active.
