Do you think the overheating is caused by the thermal paste?
At around 60% usage, it works well for some videos, though not all programs do the same—just a smooth video project plus a bit of madVR.
I assume the refurbish shop didn’t alter the thermal paste, and swapping it could improve temperatures. 85°C should be acceptable for that older machine.
Back then, cooling systems performed poorly, particularly with HP models. My old HP EliteBook would reach 105°C in just five minutes before shutting down. The thermal paste didn’t help much.
The thermal paste becomes dry, reducing its heat transfer ability. It’s okay if it reaches around 85 degrees. Just a sample case.
