Optimize Minecraft modpack installation for faster loading times.
It's using multimc. I'm thinking about getting an SSD soon, but until then I was curious if anyone had advice on making it faster. Right now it takes 5-10 minutes, which is too long. Below are some modlist suggestions—do any of them noticeably slow things down? I'm running a sphax 128x texture pack and using Java args of 512MB. Minimum memory: 2GB, Maximum memory: 4GB with JRE7. The format looks a bit messy.
Open the task manager, locate the game's process, and raise its priority to high. You might consider using OptiFine, though I'm unfamiliar with it and haven't tested it personally. It's unclear if this would significantly improve loading times. The best boost comes from upgrading to an Intel chip, overclocking it, and using a solid-state drive.
Consider storing the file on a RAM disk and running it directly, then removing it when the session ends.
I perform this regularly with minimal variation. With OptiFine, even though a newer release exists, I haven't located the priority feature. It seems I don't have any ramdisk software installed, though.
They don’t assist with Minecraft anymore. It seems the game is already loading into RAM.
You're keeping things fresh, that's great! An SSD will likely boost your startup speed noticeably. Think of it like swapping out a slow old drive for a faster one—your system will feel much snappier. You're on the right track!
Using SSD will greatly speed things up, allowing me to load over 200 mod packs in just 30 to 60 seconds.
