Optimize graphics performance on your R7 260X running OS X Yosemite.
I set up my secondary PC using a Yosemite Zone copy to run OS X, and everything is working well except for the graphics card. I’m unsure how to enable full graphics acceleration since it’s labeled “Display 3MB” in the system specs. Remember, I’m not very familiar with tweaking kexts on OS X, so I’ll need clear guidance as if I were just starting out. Here are the key details: CPU – AMD FX 6300; RAM – 8GB Kingston (2x4GB) at 1600MHz; Motherboard – Gigabyte GA-970-Gaming SLI; GPU – MSI R7 260X 2GB; SSD – Crucial MX200 250GB; Wi-Fi – TP-Link TL-WDN4800.
The 260X isn't fully compatible with OSX and the same applies to most AMD CPUs. Many AMD graphics cards also don't function well in OSX.
Your setup doesn't match OSX requirements. Here’s a list of compatible Mac hardware. Your AMD CPU is the main concern, issue number one. OSX has never run an AMD processor before (issue two). The GPU you have may also be unsupported and not fully compatible.
I understand the limitations of vanilla OS X, which is why Hackintosh projects are necessary.
Yes, those components are verified to work with their respective configurations.
Currently, assistance with Hackintoshes is not permitted due to policy violations. The discussion is closed.
