Here are some suitable titles for modest hardware. You’re already running Minecraft at ~30 FPS, so look for games that balance performance and fun. CSGO is a solid choice if you want competitive action. Other options include browser games, light RPGs, or casual strategy titles that run smoothly on older systems.

Here are some options you could try on your old laptop: Team Fortress 2 in the turned-down Warthunter mode (keep in mind it might run heavier; consider lowering the resolution). Other games you might enjoy include.

Half-life lineup. I really love Portal 1 and 2, they’re probably the top titles I’ve ever enjoyed, and they’re pretty much the same requirements as CS:GO.

Other 2D titles similar to Starbound and Terraria are available for sale. Reus also offers a calming experience.

FTL is really enjoyable, building a prison architect is straightforward, it's an escape-focused game, and GTA 3 offers a great experience at a low cost.

Sure, I understand. I’ll take care of those too. It seems like you’ve decided to give up on PC gaming due to performance issues, but you’re excited to try again now.

And also Far Cry (possibly FC2) performed well on my old GT610. COD 1-3 work nicely too. The same goes for the old Medal of Honor. If you're in the US, BF1942 still has players and is a solid game. Delta Force titles are also great.
