I’m not convinced that an R9 290 can handle the game smoothly at 30 frames per second with medium-high settings. While the game appears fine, others seem just as visually appealing yet use significantly less power.

This is a good thing. It means it's probably just like The Witcher 2. I still can't max out The Witcher 2 with my setup. Or like the original Crysis which was near impossible to max till years later.
