Hello everyone,

I’m aware that CSGO is a CPU-based game, so I started wondering about this.
In general, my CPU usage stays around 20-28%, while my GPU usage varies between 60-80%, occasionally exceeding 90%. Neither the hotspot nor the GPU temperature reached above 58°C, and my CPU temperature remained between 47-55°C.
My System details:
B550f Gaming Wifi2 Rog Strix
Tuf 6800xt
Ryzen 5600x
EVGA G5 850w
Corsair LPX 16gb 4000cl16 @ 3800mhz CL16
Monitor Gigabyte G27Q 144hz QHD

Today marks my first time playing CSGO. I’m a casual gamer, new to building a gaming rig, and my GPU isn’t overclocked—just boosted to 100MHz.
After a few hours, I checked how my system performed. The settings were set high by default, and I didn’t adjust anything.
The game runs smoothly—averaging 380-399fps, sometimes reaching 280-320fps in demanding situations. It seems like there’s a cap, probably around 400fps, which isn’t an issue since my monitor only supports 144Hz.
I recall someone using a 3060ti with the same CPU and 16GB RAM, who claimed they achieved 350-400fps in CSGO. That sparked my curiosity. I looked online and found most references suggest my setup should hit 500+fps.
Is this typical? Should I just accept the lower utilization numbers? Still, it’s interesting to understand why some people see 500-580fps.

I suspect a CPU bottleneck might be involved, but I compared my results with others using the 5600x and got excellent RAM performance. My CPU benchmarks consistently showed strong results across different frequencies and loads.
I’m a bit puzzled—why do some players report such high FPS while mine stays lower? Could it be related to game settings or configurations?

Other games I’ve tried:
Flight Simulator – 1440p ULTRA, consistently above expectations (67-80fps on average, sometimes 80+).
PUBG – 1440p ULTRA, matching the community’s expectations (5-7% above average).

My GPU was fully utilized in all these titles.
CPU performance is also normal: single-core benchmark 1550-1570, multicore 11,800-12,000 at Cinebench r23.

I think you're interpreting this too much. A high framerate does help reduce input lag delay, but 350fps is quite high.
With a 60hz monitor, about 290 of your frames are lost.
Regarding the GPU, I have a GTX 1080 and achieve 80-110 frames at medium-high settings with 1440p. That suggests you're getting the most performance possible.
I don't see any issues with your setup.

Thanks for the update, buddy.
Actually, I’m pretty sure everything’s fine with my setup. I was planning to use an FPS limiter because I know it could cause the GPU to idle too much and stop the fan from spinning. 😂 I just need around 144 or 240 fps max, especially with VRR Freesync enabled.
That’s what made me curious about the FPS and wondering if it was higher than expected.
Since I’m still learning, I want to understand what sets my system apart from what most people say a 6800X can handle in CSGO.
If I figure out the cause, I’ll try applying an FPS limit for this game—I really want a quiet system, just like in PUBG.
I played it on a 6700X for a few days, getting about 160-180 fps at 1440p, then on my 6800X I got 200+ fps and the GPU really worked hard.
On Ultra, it was around 140-160 fps, but I didn’t have the exact numbers since I only played for two days.
After that, I removed the game because it didn’t feel right, and I noticed there aren’t many people playing it in Australia either.

I just cap to 143fps so the Vysnc doesn't kick in and but still have Gsync going.
Also it depends on your CPU as a core can only ready so many frames at a time and eventually it will bottleneck. There is always something slowing something down. The lower the resolution makes this problem bigger.

But I checked my own CPU benchmark and it turned out to be solid and free of drama, 😂 That’s why I’m just really interested. I hope someone with an AMD GPU could have had the same experience and could advise me on what adjustments to make in the settings or game menu. I’m not very eager to change every setting for hours because, as you said, FPS has already been significantly affected.

Regarding the bottleneck, I know that a 5600x is limiting the 6800XT at lower resolutions, but around 3-5% at higher resolutions. At QHD and UHD it’s barely limiting, though a better GPU would still provide higher FPS.

Cheers!
