If that applies, you can definitely give it a shot. If you plan to upgrade the drive, make sure to check the available socket and confirm OSX compatibility. Otherwise, you might be able to run it on Linux or Unix systems instead, avoiding the iOS/watchOS integration if you don't require it.

Well, yes and no. You need to get the DMG for 10.6 and you can't get it from the App Store anymore so... Yes it's possible to install OSX via a USB flash drive but no you can't really do it without some magical resource.
