I'm running Windows 10 on my pc, however there's a few games and programs I have that don't work well at all with Windows 10, so I was going to use Windows 8.1 for that. Instead of running a dual boot system I simply have it installed in virtualbox. My issue though is windows update won't work at all. I remember in the past it would sometimes take like 3 hours before it finishes checking for updates the first time, needless to say I'd rather not wait that long. Is there a more efficient way to download windows updates?
To ensure updates are detected properly, manually install the latest Windows Update update. Here’s the link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help...march-2016. After downloading, wait for a restart before launching the update. Windows 7 also faces similar issues but requires a different update to fix.
I plan to try this out later when I’m home. Often I run into issues and need to switch between systems just to get things running. I choose 8.1 over 7 because it feels more reliable and runs faster, plus I don’t have a Windows 7 license—my 8.1 Pro key works perfectly. I recall the initial update check took a long time, sometimes several hours.
