Optimal method for filling memory slots on a Gigabyte B550M DS3H (1.4)
Hey everyone, in short I suspected a RAM problem this morning since my PC started up after using it last night. I booted it with just one stick, but wasn’t sure what was wrong. To check, I added more memory to test dual-channel performance and other scenarios. The system now runs smoothly with all slots and configurations—dual or single. It’s possible I made a mistake earlier, but everything seems fine now. My initial RAM was two 8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX modules at 3600 MHz. I’m considering increasing capacity anyway. Are there any downsides to using all four modules together? Should each channel have a mix or just one type per slot? Also, with a Ryzen 5 4500 CPU, what’s the ideal setup?
No matter how you install the RAM modules, they'll always perform at the same speed—3200 MHz. The order of insertion doesn't really matter.
