It depends on the IMC and Interconnect capabilities. Generally, anything above 2933 isn't assured, but you can technically use something like a 1600 AF (lower binned 2600) or a 3300x which tends to be more cost-effective and perform better unless the workload is very multi-threaded.

You mentioned it's technically feasible but sometimes fails. I'm struggling to keep the 2600 running smoothly at speeds over 2933 rpm, it keeps crashing no matter what I try. It seems like it depends on testing and adjusting.

Use the 3200MHz CL16 unless you find a great offer on the 3600MHz model—opt for the cheaper one since the differences are minimal. Consider getting a key ballistics set if you plan to boost performance later, as those are mainly for Rev E builds.
