Just installed the MasterLiquid ML360R RGB and wondering if I should go beyond 3.7 GHz and 1.3V. My previous Noctua U12S SE AM4 worked well, but now I’m seeking a faster clock speed for my processor since there’s some water in the top of my R6 case. Any advice would be appreciated!

You have complete freedom, don’t allow anyone to restrict your choices. The main concern with Zen revolves around heat levels. Excessive heat causes wear and tear. Temperatures above 60°C are unsuitable for meaningful overclocking.

My Ryzen 7 1700 operates at 4.00GHz with 1.325V under Prime95 and Furmark on the GPU (full custom loop). The CPU stays around 70°C. Just experiment with what suits your chip—my setup hits 4.05GHz stably, as long as it doesn’t exceed 68°C. I’m unsure if this is typical or lucky, but I’d love to see your results. Also, try boosting memory timings for Ryzen—it can make a big difference.

Using the noctua usually kept temperatures around 70°C and maximum load, either it was furmark or prime95 stressing the chip. I’m aiming for cooler runs with this aio—I’ve managed to get it up to 3.7 and 1.35V so far, but I’m hoping to reach 4GHz. Although previous attempts haven’t succeeded much, I’m willing to try as a 2700x unless it breaks. It’ll be disappointing since I just applied paste yesterday :') The memory I’m using is the Corsair Vengance RGB DDR4 16GB 2x8 CL15 type, and I’ve never exceeded its default speed of 3000. If you have any advice for this setup, let me know what to do. I’ve searched online and run tests, but it always settles back to 2133 as normal, then jumps to 3000 as stable. I’m unsure what voltage would work at 4GHz, but I’ll definitely try higher than 1.35 if needed.

Reduced the voltage to 1.3 and completed the climb at 3.8; it hasn't crashed yet. I'm testing with Prime95 next. The highest load and temperature recorded was 57, which surprised me. It never exceeded 3.76 GHz, though that might be a warning sign x)

The issue arises when the voltage is too high, causing the chip to overheat and crash; if it's too low, the system crashes immediately. You need to locate the optimal range where the voltage meets your requirements without exceeding it.

It seems the system runs smoothly at 1.33 MHz on a 4 GHz frequency for about 20 minutes before overheating. Trying 1.35 MHz doesn’t work, while 1.345 MHz lasts only 10 minutes. These chips feel very inconsistent—maybe I didn’t win the lottery. Still, the low idle temperature of 23°C is surprising; it usually doesn’t drop that low. I managed to get it to 3.90 with 1.335 MHz, but I’m not sure if it will last longer than the previous model. It’s fun to experiment with the only CPU I have right now.

The voltage control isn't consistent; stability can't be judged by a single measurement unless you compare several samples. Silicon data indicates only 24% of tested units reached 4.0 GHz at 1.44 V, while 65% handled 3.9 GHz at 1.408 V. I wouldn't suggest applying continuous voltages above 1.35 V, but 1.45 V seems acceptable during testing if temperature stays under 60°C.

I've tested some intense benchmarks on 1.3V and 3.8V, handling heavier games smoothly. Everything worked well. I'm aiming for 3.9 or 4.0GHz with the same voltage or a bit higher. Since this chip performs well, I'm hopeful it can reach close to 3.9. I've got the 360mm cooler ready, but I wouldn't be disappointed if it settles around 3.8 or 3.9 now.
