I understand mouse and keyboard are superior to Xbox 360 controllers, but I only have a keyboard with a touchpad. I attempted to play Battlefield 3, but the multiplayer performance was too poor, making the experience unpleasant.

Are you thinking about Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, or even Far Cry 4 as a possible FPS?

Single player FPS games will be fine, its just MP where you will get your ass kicked Why not just buy the worlds cheapest mouse, nobody in your house have one? or maybe ask a friend if they have an old spare one?

Any device needing a console connection is fine. ARMA won’t work here—it’s not close to having enough buttons for a fully keyboard/mouse-free setup.

As discussed before, Arma might not be great, but CS GO should work well for casual play. CoD is okay too, though the absence of an aim assist will increase the challenge.

I plan to build up savings for the G502 and a mechanical keyboard. I’m staying in a dorm, and most people around me have laptops and consoles.

Attempting to play CS with a controller could result in failure.
