Optane Speed, non-OS hard drive available for 2025?
So here's the situation, my NVMe boot drive is 500 GB, and I have multiple hard drives in my system, one of which I am keeping footage for video editing on. Unsurprisingly video editing is a bit unresponsive, certainly not unusable, but could be better. I happen to have an Intel Optant 16GB accelerator card lying around and I was hoping to use this to potentially fix this problem, however Intel's software for an Optane Accelerator does not work on my system. I suspect it might be because I'm using an AMD CPU, Ryzen 5 3600. Does anybody know if there is an alternative way to use an accelerator card on my non-OS Hard Drive? If not it's honestly not a huge deal, it would just be cool to try to do. You'd also face the problem of the 16GB being reserved for frequently accessed files, while media files often don't get priority, which wouldn't really speed things up. Unless the files are extremely large, it should still feel responsive. This could be an option but it's highly unstable and not fully reliable. Also, if something goes wrong, you'd have to recover the data.
