I owned a previous Gigabyte Auros Z370 Gaming 5 motherboard with a 3TB HDD and an Optane Memory stick. Unfortunately, the board won’t boot at all, making it impossible to enter BIOS. I had to switch to a newer Gigabyte Z790 Aero G model. It seems this setup isn’t compatible with Optane Memory, so even when connected directly or in a USB enclosure, I can’t access the drive. While plugged into the drive, it appears inactive and displays “The Drive isn't Ready.” I’m trying to recover data from old projects, but any assistance would be invaluable.

Do you have backups ready? Trying to add another z370 board might be the most affordable option to recover the data.

It should function properly without the Optane module. Starting it would wipe all data, so it’s best not to do that. It looks like the drive is probably damaged, and without backups you’d need a costly recovery service.

If initialized properly, it may erase all data on the disk. Cloning the drive lets you transfer information to another device, so you can retain the data elsewhere. Updated Dec 17, 2024 by R3537L1F3
