Optane causing HDDs to behave like SSDs

Around November to December 2017 I acquired a new PC equipped with a terabyte HDD and a 16GB Intel Optane drive. Driven by boredom, I decided to defragment the HDD. It turned out my system believed there was an SSD instead, while HWMonitor thought it was an HDD plus Optane, leaving me confused since I installed it myself. The question is, how can I make Windows recognize it as a traditional HDD rather than an SSD?

WIth optane there isn't much of a reason to defrag the disk. I woudln't defrag it here. You can use third party programs to defrag if you want.

It seems unlikely you need to worry about Windows mistaking an SSD for Optane. The behavior is more likely tied to hardware differences rather than software quirks.

This outcome stems from the optane caching system. The reporting might encounter problems as well. Optane changes the boot drive into a reset volume, which stores the HDD cache managed by the optane device.
