The board in question is a Z87 Type MB. Recently, I checked the Manual and noticed the motherboard has two PCI slots and three PCIe x1 slots, with one above the x16 slot. Back then, I avoided older slots because I was starting fresh. Now, for my upcoming build, I’m looking for a better option than Asrock but still within a budget. Which boards are often seen as superior yet affordable?

These MSI A Pro and Gigabyte UD boards tend to be reliable and affordable. Skip Asus unless you're on a sale. Premium options are solid, but budget models can feel overpriced. Edit: just to confirm, you're referring to the latest motherboards for your upcoming build?

Which CPU are you thinking about using? That will affect the choice a lot. If you're going with x97, you can find some really decent and affordable options from China and other places.

They're quite modern compared to the X97 chipset versions. A fresh feel for my projects. This is just a temporary placeholder to help with planning costs until I start building.
