Hello, I'm trying to decide which motherboard fits the system you mentioned. Should I go with Z790 or is a Z690 sufficient? I've considered these options: MSI PRO-Z790-A-WIFI, MSI MPG-Z790-EDGE-WIFI, ASUS Z790-A WIFI, and GIGABYTE Z790-AERO-G. Could you share your thoughts or suggest alternatives? Thanks in advance!

They all look quite alike in terms of appearance and technical details. The Z790-A-Wifi offers 16 phase 80A power compared to the EDGE-WIFI and ASUS Z790-A, which provides 90A, making them more than sufficient for this CPU. The first and third models feature only 4 M.2 slots, whereas the others have 5 M.2 slots. The decision mainly hinges on rear connectivity and the number of USB ports required, along with personal style preferences. Edited March 1, 2023 by CommanderAlex

It mainly depends on cost and your preferred design or input options. For me, Gigabyte or MSI are solid choices when it comes to I/O, while the Asus model falls short in comparison. The Gigabyte board supports an 8+4 pin EPS, which shouldn’t be an issue even with a 13900k. When choosing a motherboard, I map out my cable paths in advance and decide based on features, chipset, I/O setup, fan headers, PCIe options, etc.
