Hello, I'm switching my PC and having some difficulty picking the right motherboard. I'm unsure whether to go with the B450 or the X570. I plan to upgrade my GPU later (GTX1060 at that), so maybe the PCIe 4 slot in the X570 could be useful for future GPUs that support it. I don't know if the AM4 socket will still work long-term. Based on what I've heard, the motherboard can be quite restrictive for future upgrades, but the B450 might still be okay. Thanks ahead for your help!

The current situation for all mobs will remain consistent in a few years. They'll be from an earlier version and suitable for discussions like "I want to upgrade from my X570..." on this forum. No, don't get caught up in the hype around PCIe 4.0. This technology is being introduced too soon before it can actually benefit GPU performance. Even the 2080Ti only uses more than a quarter of the bandwidth PCIe 4.0 provides. We've already got multiple generations of video cards to work with before we need PCIe 3.0.
