I subscribe to Spotify Premium and really enjoy it. I rely on it every day, as it offers most of the tracks I need, and I wouldn’t survive without it.
I’ve been using Spotify in the UK for several years with a premium plan. The main drawbacks are missing some niche tracks and artists, which usually stems from record labels or artists restricting their music on the platform. I rely heavily on the desktop version for daily use and the mobile apps during my commute, especially since it lets me download songs for offline listening. While there are cheaper music options available, I prefer straightforward solutions. There’s a Linux version of Spotify too—I’ve tried it without issues, though it contains proprietary content. You might want to check out Google Music as well; it offers a comparable experience but I only used it briefly, so I’m unsure about its library or device compatibility.
Premium member, appreciate this. The half-price premium is great, especially since I'm a student in education.
I don’t see any advantage compared to XBox Music, which is accessible in Canada for several years now and offers a large music library. The only issue I have is the lack of a genre-based radio. The system relies on artists you’re listening to, checking their bios and suggesting similar or related tracks. This explains why there’s no clear genre filtering, but it would be helpful if it existed. Sometimes you just want to explore a specific genre and find music that way. Overall, both services are solid, though Spotify currently feels more tailored for video ads.
spotify might be one of the top platforms online. There are a couple of tracks I’ve never heard on it that I searched for, but since they weren’t copyrighted, maybe it doesn’t matter. Still, it’s interesting to note that other countries haven’t had spotify yet, and I rely on it every day.
