I believe you should access the storage options and grant yourself complete access.

After testing various NAS options, OMV stood out as the top choice for me. My media server has been operational for nearly a year now, and I frequently travel internationally for work. Despite being in different countries, I can access all my media via Emby on OMV and store files through OwnCloud.

I personally run Centos 7 with a Samba server that shares with my Windows machine. FreeNAS is widely recognized and reliable. Others might suggest ECC storage on FreeNAS using GFS or similar ideas, but I've relied on CIFS combined with an rsync cron job to an external HDD for years without issues.

I actually use Ubuntu 16.04—this machine is also for converting MKV files to MP4. It functions smoothly with Samba linking to my MacBook.
