You should install 32-bit Windows 10. The hardware you have is 32-bit compatible, and using a 64-bit version would not work properly with the existing components.

64-bit support allows access to more memory, enabling larger applications and newer software that require it.

The sole justification for using 32-bit is when the CPU lacks 64-bit support.

Thank you for the input! What I meant was to mention that some sources suggest 32-bit systems use fewer resources, which could potentially improve performance, although I'm still unsure about how reliable that is.

Consider trying Linux for maximum performance, though drivers might cause some issues. I'm working on fixing Wi-Fi and sound drivers across two computers. Windows 10 seems to use resources well enough. With 2 GB of DDR2 in Windows 10 while using 3DS Max, it was slow—only reaching the recommended 8 GB minimum. It worked okay for lighter jobs.

Consent understood. Additional points include situations with legacy hardware lacking 64-bit drivers, especially when replacement is prohibitively expensive. Also relevant are cases where software designed for 16-bit processors incurs high costs to update or replace, particularly when tied to costly hardware. The removal of 16-bit support in Windows 64-bit further complicates matters.

It restricts both the 32-bit architecture and all available memory the operating system manages. Includes VRAM as well.

Other opinions suggest that 32-bit Windows performs much better on Intel Atom systems, particularly on older models, because their 64-bit processing isn't functioning well. With at least 1GB of RAM, it's advisable to opt for 32-bit Windows to reduce the memory footprint needed by larger libraries. 2GB falls into a uncertain range; 32-bit Windows 10 offers Memory Compression similar to 64-bit, allowing further optimization even on Windows 10. For more than 2GB, switching to 64-bit is generally recommended.
