Operating system active yet screen remains blank—final option before contacting technical support
I’ve tried everything possible. The PC is only two weeks old and I’m already facing this problem. I had to update Windows, then shut it down and restart it. After about half an hour it kept running without turning off, and the screen was blank. No external devices should work even though the fans’ LEDs are active, so I know it’s operational. The monitor displays my PlayStation correctly, I force restarted it, reinstalled RAM using both sticks and one stick, performed a power cycle, flashed the BIOS, removed and reinstalled the CMOS battery, and even swapped the SSD. Still nothing. When I power on, the motherboard lights flash briefly before everything works. Currently, when I start up, it makes three “vvvvvv” sounds. The manual says a RAM issue might be the cause, but I haven’t changed RAM yet and only recently considered that option. It’s really confusing. My specs are: motherboard MSI B450-A Pro Max ATX, AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz, 6-core, 16 GB DDR4-3600, G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2x8 GB), SanDisk SSD Plus 1 TB, Gigabyte Windforce OC GeForce GTX 1650 G5 4 GB.
I’d start by taking out one of the two RAM sticks, putting just one in the farthest slot away from the CPU, and check if that improves booting. If that fixes the beeping issue but you still don’t see anything on the screen, it might point to a GPU driver problem—reinstalling Windows could help. Let me know what happens after trying one RAM stick, then we’ll move forward.
