I changed after the licensing issues. It looks like Netgage has a track record of problems, but I’m satisfied with the switch. The main difference is that OPNsense gets updates more often. You could just use a switch instead? That would remove the LAN out port and give you more flexibility. I remember a time when I added extra ports to all my rooms, but I made a mistake by only putting one port in each room after running the cables.

I've secured a dedicated AP—Grandstream 7600—and it looks great on the wall. I'm wondering why I delayed this. I'm still learning to switch to OPNsense; there are just too many kids and not enough time.

Make sure your PFSense setup is saved safely so you can quickly return to it if needed. This way, you can reinstall PFSense, transfer your configuration, and resume exactly where you left off. OPNsense was a straightforward transition too. I have the necessary knowledge to handle these changes, thanks to the documentation and some online research.
