It seems the PC automatically launches Edge when you wake it up via the keyboard, not the mouse. This behavior might be due to a startup script or automation setting.

Review the top suggestions you received.
1. Navigate to Settings, then Personalization, and adjust the lock screen and background settings to Picture.
2. Modify the registry entry from 1 to 0 at the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet\EnableActiveProbing.

The adjustment switches the service off when altered by disconnecting the connection, much like a wall switch where ON equals 1 and OFF equals 0. Microsoft Edge remains functional, but it won't activate automatically. Don't forget, a restart is necessary for the update to take effect.

Modified the content and restarted again, but nothing has been resolved and the edge window remains open.

Open Start/Settings, type "Startup" in the search and check if Edge appears. Uncheck it if needed. Check your Edge preferences for options to prevent automatic launch. Since I don’t use Edge as a primary browser, I usually remove it after installing Firefox, which is my top choice. If you prefer alternatives, consider Brave, Firefox, or Opera—each has strong community support. For detailed steps on removing Edge from Windows, search the browser’s uninstall guide.

NOTE: Ignoring Microsoft’s warnings about other apps is just corporate nonsense and can be safely disregarded.
